Our Story
Built for the complexity of modern global trade
Lake & Cross Partners was founded by practitioners who spent their careers at the intersection of law, regulation, and global commerce — inside government agencies, in private practice, and embedded in the compliance functions of multinational companies.
We started the firm because we saw a gap: companies navigating customs, export controls, and sanctions needed advisors who understood not just the regulations, but the operational realities of running a global business. Generic compliance advice wasn't enough.
Today we advise importers, exporters, manufacturers, and financial institutions across a wide range of industries — from aerospace and defense to life sciences and technology. Our work is specific, practical, and built around each client's unique risk profile and commercial objectives.

Margaret Lake

Margaret brings over two decades of experience in customs law and trade compliance. Prior to founding the firm, she served as a trade specialist with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and later led the customs compliance function at a Fortune 500 manufacturer. She advises clients on classification, valuation, customs audits, and free trade agreement qualification.

David Cross
J.D., LL.M. International Trade Law
David specializes in export controls and sanctions, with particular depth in dual-use technology, aerospace, and defense-related transactions. He has represented clients before BIS, DDTC, and OFAC in voluntary self-disclosures and enforcement proceedings, and has designed export compliance programs for companies operating in over 40 countries.

Priya focuses on supply chain security, customs broker management, and global market entry strategy. She has led C-TPAT certification programs for major importers and developed broker oversight frameworks adopted across complex, multi-modal supply chains. Her market entry work spans Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
